PRO SERIESProtecta manufactures a wide variety of shock absorbing lanyards, designed to reduce the impact forces placed on a body in the event of a fall. Protecta shock absorbing lanyards are comprise of 4 sections:- Lanyard Leg: A lanyard, constructed of rope, webbing, or steel cable, that is attached to the opposite end of the shock absorber unit. Standard shock absorbers are 6' in total length, although shorter versions are available
- Harness Connector: On standard shock absorbing lanyards, the harness connector element is an AJ520A double-locking snaphook. It has a 3/4" gate opening and easily accommodates a standard D-ring. 1" wide Web loop connectors are also available for attachment to the harnesses that utilize a web loop d-ring
- Shock Absorber: The shock absorbing unit is constructed of 2 separate pieces of webbing that are woven together and a separate backup strap. If a fall occurs, the woven material will separate progressively, absorbing energy as it smoothly and wuickly brings the user to a stop. maximum extended length of the shock absorber unit is 42". Webbing in the unit is all nylon, covered in a UV-resistant clear plastic cover that facilitates inspection
- Anchor Connector: the anchor connector element varies from one shock absorbing lanyard to the next. Anchor connectors are usually double locking hooks or carabiners, although other devices may be utilized. All anchor connectors are rated as stand-alone anchorage devices capable of suipporting a 5,000 lb static load
- All Protecta shock absorning lanyards comply with OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359.1-1998 Standards, unless otherisde indicated
- For more information about the anchor connectors and other anchoring devices, please see the "Anchors & Connectors" section

"Y" type Shock Absorbing Lanyards offer the same protection and mobility as the single leg type, but their design offers additional security. "Y" type lanyards are designed to permit the user to be 100 % tied off at all times during traverse. The user attaches one lanyard to the anchorage point, traverses until an obstacle is encountered, attaches the second leg beyond the obstruction, disconnects the first leg, and continues. When not in use, one leg can be secured to an AK004A lanyard Keeper to eliminate a potential trip hazard. Elastic leg lanyards also greatly reduce trip hazards associated with vertical climbing; an area where "Y" lanyards are commonly used- 1" Web Leg "Y"
- 1-3/4" Web Leg "Y"
- 1/2" Rope Leg "Y"
- 1/4" Cable leg "Y"
